ABOUT ME
Michael Kinser an Ordained Minister and a compassionate License Marriage and Family Therapist with over 30 years of counseling individuals, couples, families, teens, and children.He addresses communication, conflict-resolution, divorce, remarriage, blended families, and family dynamics.
Additionally, Michael is a professional Special Need Advocate, helping families with individuals who have special needs, especially children with disabilities, learning deficiencies, disciplinary issues, special education and 504 plans since 1994, the year his oldest daughter was born with an extremely rare genetic disorder. I know first hand the challenges within the family, the school, and community.
EXPERIENCE
Michael has been helping individuals, couples and families since 1991 as a full time Pastor, and since 2007 as a professional therapist. He earned a Master’s Degree in Counseling in 2007 from St. Edwards University, Austin Texas, Master’s of Divinity with Biblical Languages in 1997 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth Texas, was Licensed to The Gospel Ministry in 1991 and ordained to The Gospel Ministry in 1993, both by Hyde Park Baptist Church, Austin Texas.
As a Special Need Advocate, Michael has a passionate voice for helping students through private consultation, attending ARD/IEP and 504 meetings, representing clients at mediation, filing complaints, requests for due process hearings and appealing disciplinary referrals for students unfairly punished by the school system.
WHAT TO EXPECT
There is hope. Michael works with Individuals, couples and families to find the answers they need for the problems they face. Let's begin with the ending. Typically, his clients report noticeable, positive change within 4-8 sessions. Most of them have developed the tools and reached their goals within 3-4 months.
Our time will be focused on solutions for your future. Michael wants to hear your story, understand how you got to where you are today, and use his training and experience to help you gain insight on where to go from here. The process often, but not always, begins with one person, a spouse or parent who is looking for help to move their marriage or family forward. Michael will work to understand the dynamics of your situation and apply proven therapy applications that provide real tools to help your family.
